Why Heron costs more than a dictation app

If you only want text at your cursor, a dictation app will do. VoiceInk is $25 to $49 and MacWhisper Pro is €64, and both are good.

Heron is $99 because dictation is only the start. You also get voice notes, meeting notes and a full notes app that keeps it all organised in Markdown files you own, so you aren’t paying for three separate apps.

Questions about paying

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once.

What happens after the trial?

Your notes stay readable, and dictation pauses until you buy.

What’s your refund policy?

[NEED: policy. AppSumo may set its own.]

Does it work offline?

Yes, after setup. The first run downloads the speech model, about 600 MB, and activating your licence needs a connection once.

Do I need Apple Intelligence?

Dictation and notes work without it. AI cleanup, titles and tags need it.
